.: Exhibition

The South African National Council for the Blind (SANCB) and the World Blind Union (WBU) will be staging an exhibition during the World Blind Union Sixth

General Assembly, Cape Town , South Africa , in December 2004. The General Assembly takes place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from Monday,

6 December to Friday, 10 December 2004 , and it is likely to be attended by 1,000 to 1,200 blind and sighted delegates from all parts of the world.

.: The venue:

The CTICC opened in July 2003 and is ideally located close to existing hotels and transport net works. It is also in close proximity to both the city centre

and Cape Town 's entertainment and tourist axis. In walking distance are the city's major hotels, providing 4 000 rooms of three star quality and above,

including the 500-room deluxe Arabella Sheraton integrated into the convention centre. Also in walking distance are Cape Town 's leading recreational amenities,

shopping areas, and cultural attractions, among which is the internationally acclaimed Victoria and Alfred Waterfront with Table Mountain on the doorstep.

Cape Town 's city centre is vibrant day and night, clean, well policed and efficiently managed by an award-winning public /private sector partnership. The

city's Mediterranean climate is temperate, free of humidity, and conducive to the outdoor lifestyle that attracts millions of visitors to the city each

year, especially in summer when the Northern Hemisphere is in its winter months. Unsurprisingly, it is widely acknowledged to be Africa 's most progressive,

stable and prosperous region. All of which places the Cape Town International Convention Centre in a highly attractive and unique environment.

.: RAI:

The Cape Town International Convention Centre has recently signed a management contract with the Dutch-based RAI Group to operate and manage the Cape Town

International Convention Centre. While eleven international companies expressed an interest in the management of the CTICC, the Board finally selected

RAI Group Communications as it was particularly impressed with its wealth of experience in the management of global conferences and exhibitions, having

been in the business since the 1890's. The RAI Group currently manages one of the world's leading and busiest venues, the highly successful Amsterdam

RAI centre, as well as the International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Maastricht . The company is a major player in Europe and is one of its foremost

conference and exhibition organisers operating in six countries, including the United States of America, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Thailand and France .
